Shawna has taken full advantage of her training and post-graduate years to experience veterinary medicine in very interesting locations. As a student, she held preceptorships at zoos in St. Louis and Cincinnati. Upon completing her studies in 2007, she worked in Juneau, Alaska as a small animal vet where she treated sled dogs and animals in remote island communities in the area. It’s safe to say she has seen some interesting cases over the years! Prior to joining the team at St Aubyn Vet Clinic she was at the New Plymouth Vet Group for 8 years. Her special interests are dermatology, endocrinology and ophthalmology. She thrives on challenging cases and is especially adept at treating long-standing, complicated dermatology cases. Shawna has travelled and explored extensively, which comes as no surprise once you learn that both of her parents were pilots and that she grew up with an airplane hangar and landing strip behind her home!
